Guilty Pleasures and More: Kelly Urich
By OWEN MORRIS

Kelly Urich is the afternoon host on Mix 93.3 FM and an advocate for laser hair removal. As Urich tells us, "I'm hard core into cycling and rather than shave my legs, I got them treated. For Valentine's Day I had my butt treated live on the air and it was quite an experience, although the nurse left the room when I asked her to take my temperature. I'm really as hair-free as advertised." We asked him what he eats when no one's looking, and the questions for Kansas continued from there.
I'm a sucker for the phyllo chocolate brownie at Grand Street. Five Nut Brownie at Houston's is a close second.
What's the best meal you've ever eaten in Kansas City?
I was probably most satisfied after having the rib-eye with peppercorn sauce at Aixois.
What's the last thing you ate?
My wife is granola queen, so my breakfast bowl contained barley, flax seed, honey ... and walnuts.
How often do you prepare your own meals?
Rarely. Working afternoons, dinner is ready when I get home. I did make a bitchin' peach cobbler a few weeks ago.
What's your drink?
I'm a wine lover. I buy cases of Australian Shiraz I devoured when we broadcast from Sydney. Also buy some local whites from Missouri.
Cake, pie or ice cream?
The best ice cream in the world is peppermint stick at Murray's! I've punched out four Murray's cards this year.
Where do you get your coffee?
From record labels, where I get my paycheck. I'm a hot tea guy. I drink whatever my wife has in the cupboard.
How often do you eat fast food?
Almost never. We eat primarily at locally based restaurants. I eat at Hereford House downtown at least once a week.
Your grocery store?
My wife shops at Whole Foods but I sneak down to the Brookside Cosentino's because it's the only place in town that sells Fazer mints. If I need a shot of cultural diversity I go to the Westport Sunfresh. You could conduct a mock UN meeting there.
