Julie & Julia trailer finally here

Well, that didn't take long. Shortly after Sony Pictures released the poster and the Web site for Julie & Julia, the trailer is now online:
Meryl Streep's impression will either carry or tank this movie. The trailer makes it seem like she's nailed Child's voice, but if it's really just 90 minutes of Streep saying cliches like "Bonjour! Bonjour!" then the voice is going to get old quick.

The most interesting scenes look to be Child at Le Cordon Bleu, the
original famous cooking school. Hopefully they won't be dumbed down but
actually show in the intensity of French cooking. The scenes featuring
Amy Adams (Julie) look uhh...less promising.
Director and writer Nora Ephron hasn't had a hit in over 10 years and hasn't had a big hit in 15. (Yes, it's been 15 years since Sleepless in Seattle.) I wasn't aware she was a cooking fanatic since none of her other movies have memorable kitchen scenes. But she's been quoted as saying, "Whenever I get married, I start buying Gourmet Magazine." I'd be interested to know how many Julia Child recipes she's actually made. If she doesn't cook much herself then I don't see how this movie will be a hit.
The release date has also been finalized as Friday, August 7 so we'll all find out then. Bon Appetit!
