The Bristol is trying out a new, seasonal four-course menu -- and before it goes before the public, it's coming across computer screens for readers of Fat City.

The Low Tides seasonal menu will be tested after 4 p.m. from December 1-3 at both the Leawood and downtown locations. Featured dishes and how to make reservations are after the jump.

The four courses are listed below in order:

Seared Scallops with Crispy Pancetta -- spiced carrot beurre blanc, watercress, pickled sultanas. Wine pairing: Rex Hill Chardonnay (2006, Oregon)

Grilled Asparagus Salad -- Gorgonzola cheese, candied walnuts, baby greens, walnut
vinaigrette. Wine pairing: Louis Jadot Beaujolais Villages (2008, France)

Crispy Potato Wrapped Grouper -- Steamed mussels, roasted red peppers, capers, olives,
chorizo saffron broth. Wine pairing: Banfi Centine (2007, Italy)

Chocolate Butterscotch Tart -- Sweet and sour cherries, sea salt, sweet balsamic syrup. Wine pairing: Sandeman Tawny Port (Portugal)

The Low Tides menu is $25, and $39 if you choose to have the wine pairing with each course. This is discounted from the standard price of $32, which will feature two options for wine pairings, an additional $15 and $25. You can make your reservation for any of the first three days in December at the Leawood restaurant by callling 913-663-5777 and downtown at 816-448-6007.

If that doesn't work for your schedule, the happy hour specials at the Bristol downtown are worth the trip. It's only at the bar, but oysters are 50 cents a piece between 4 and 7 p.m. on Sunday to Friday. Mussels and calamari are among the appetizers offered for $5.95. Also, one pound, live Maine lobsters are sold at cost on Tuesday to Friday.
