| Kobe is one of the 21 restaurants participating in District Restaurant Week |
The event runs from today through Sunday, February 7, and you'll have your choice of a prix fixe lunch ($10) or dinner ($25 or $30) from one of 21 participating restaurants. MeMa's Bakery and Savvy Coffee and Wine Bar will also be offering discounts during the week.
MeMa's opens at 7 a.m., giving away a free bakery item to the first 100 customers each day. Savvy offers half-off brewed coffee, espresso and iced tea between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. and $3 and $5 wine specials from 4 to 7 p.m.
The lunches are two courses for $10, which includes a $5 gift certificate that can be used towards your next meal. The Marquee (inside the AMC Mainstreet theater) has several hamburgers and donut holes for dessert; consider the McGee (10 oz. patty, fried egg, sauteed mushrooms, bacon, Tillamook cheddar cheese, red onion and tomato). Fran's has a choice of appetizer, soup of the day or garden salad and an entree of either chicken fried chicken or meatloaf. For $15 at the Bristol downtown, you can get a cup of lobster bisque and a plate of lobster mac n' cheese with white truffle bread crumbs and grilled asparagus.
The dinners are three courses. With each dinner you buy, you get a $10 gift certificate good towards your next visit. For $25, for example, Raglan Road has traditional Irish fare: soup or salad; shepherd's pie, fish and chips, Guinness bangers and mash, Irish Stew, sage chicken; and Ger's Bread and Butter pudding. And among the $30 offerings, a standout appears to be the 801 Chophouse: caesar salad or lobster corn chowder; filet mignon Iowa Berkshire pork chop or Atlantic salmon; and mini cupcakes/creme brulee).
