Well, kudos to Kevin Smith for doing a great job thus far. while i am against anyone who oppresses others with beliefs i do find that homosexuality is immoral. and that these who partake in such acts do not need more rights to protect them or keep sticking the fact of their sexuality in our face to remind us. but the fact that a leader of a Christian church to post hate signs or protest in a disrespectful manner is a great horror to any human. where is the love , that is the christian duty .

Kevin, I love your work. Ever since watching Clerks a year ago(yes, I'm a complete noob), I've been a big fan. I even have a Clerks 2 theatrical poster on my wall :)
I got to say, people should be more open-minded towards "Red State". Kevin's not attacking religion or spirituality. All he is doing is taking on a very negative idea that is homophobia. Homophobia exists in our society and it should not. Hating someone because they are different is not the way to go.
Homosexuals are people too and some people just have to learn that. People should be able to love who they want to love.
And since people are using religion as an attack against Kevin Smith, wasn't Jesus about acceptance and love? I thought Christ ate and drank with the "sinners". I was always told as a child to love my neighbour and yet I see people promoting homophobia while going under the same "value system". The image of Buddy Christ is essentially how Smith sees Christ: as a buddy. So, don't attack Smith for something like that.
Homophobia is horrific. Period.

I like a lot of Kevin's stuff, but this idea sounds utterly brillant! I am from GErmany and had never heard about that Phelps-guy before, but he is one of the scariest people I have seen in my life. Equally intimidatiing: His grandchildren, check them on youtube. It's hard to believe anyone could be so fanatic. Should make for the best villain since Lecter.

As a citizen of Topeka, I want to say that I am completely ashamed to say that i am a citizen of topeka. The whole Phelps clan makes our entire city look like the brown eye of the country. I could care less about peoples choices and I think that this is a great plot for a movie and I will hope that this might get people to see exactly how crazy this guy is. Tolerance. It's an interesting word. Look it up. No one, not a person, is asking you to like homosexuality. They're just asking you to mind your own business and stop worrying about what people are doing in the privacy of their own lives and homes.

The only thing I'm disappointed with Red State for is it's giving this moron the publicity he craves.
