Let the Good Times Roll

Jay McShann and his buddies would've wanted it this way.
Several readers wanted to know what they could do after we wrote about the cops breaking up the late-night fun at the Mutual Musicians Foundation last fall.

Well, here’s your chance.

A bill that would allow the foundation to stay open until 6 a.m. will get a hearing in the Missouri House next Tuesday. Here’s the text of an e-mail we received from Mike Talboy, one of the bill’s sponsors:

Thank you for your support of the Mutual Musicians Foundation and the legislation I have proposed which will protect a tradition Kansas City has come to love. I have been able to schedule our bill for a hearing in the Local Government Committee on Tuesday, April 17th at 8:00am. I appreciate your dedication and I ask if you are able, please attend this hearing and voice your support of this legislation. I also ask you to pass this information on to all your friends and others you know may be in support and able to travel to Jefferson City next Tuesday. You may also email your support to the chair of the committee, Rep. Vicki Schneider at vicki.schneider@house.mo.gov. With your help, we can save our jazz tradition. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Representative Mike Talboy
District 37
