So Long, Semler

Tue Jan 22, 2008 at 11:05:42 AM

By ERIC BARTON

Frances Semler announced her resignation in a letter faxed to The Pitch at 11:01 last night. The letter is telling about Semler's state of mind. There's a lot of anger here, directed at a variety of targets, including The Kansas City Star and illegals. Semler ends the letter, and perhaps the controversy, with all caps: "I feel BETRAYED."

About time, let's move on with the real issues facing Kansas City.

Mark says:

Well, now we know where illegal sympathizers are. Kansas City. Everyone that's a true American (ie, here legally) should BOYCOTT this sorry piece of crap city for harboring and welcoming illegals.

Steve says:

I would think that Semlar has a legitimate lawsuit against the city. Shame on you KC for allowing this to happen.

Jenny says:

Considering the fact that illegal aliens hurt struggling working poor and lower middle class American citizens, and that includes black, brown and white. When we know for a fact that the rise in illegal aliens across the country has resulted in higher unemployment for black Americans most especially, at a time when we have a declining pool of jobs, and outsourcing has been going on since the 1980s, it's plain to see that the NAACP is as disconnected from the plight of average black Americans as too many members of the CBC.

I'd like to suggest that those who think otherwise should google for info on the study that Harvard University just finished in December, that revealed that there has never been a worker shortage in the US, not among blue collar workers, all the way up to tech and white collar workers.

Chronic says:

I just want to remind the geniuses who've commented on this story that this "job argument" is the same argument used 100 years ago by close-minded people working to keep Jews, Italians and The Irish out of America.

I don't understand how you blame the slave-laborer and not the corrupt businessman who has illegally hired the undocumented worker all in the name of profit.

Chronic, we do blame the employers first. I'd love to see a thousand of them do perp walks on TV. But considering that the act of illegal entry indicates disrespect for our law, no matter how little respect laws actually get the illegal aliens' homelands, it's silly not to place some of the burden on illegal aliens.

To compare the current situation to that which existed up to 1924 (when we harshly shut it down), is absurd. The numbers are not comparable. The disparity in the education necessary to really succeed here is not remotely similar. The broad cultural intolerance of those who would not assimilate is gone, thanks to political correctness. Further, the ethnic peoples you mention are all of Western Civilization. They are kindred cultures of ours.

If we end up in a generation with 100 million resident and citizen mestizos - a culture with no historical attachment to the cultural threads of Western Civilization - then we will have radically altered the mix that decides who we are, where we go and how we govern ourselves.

You can bluster all you want about how these people are going to get along here just fine, but what if you are wrong? What if it turns out that our children and children's children end up living in an America made much less, or much less free because of it? If it turns out that the newcomers do not assimilate, it will require a much more oppressive government to manage.

It's just the height of stupidity to simply assume that it will all work out when there is no way to fix it if we continue with the status quo or grant another amnesty.

John Winton says:

Boo-hoo for the poor "undocumented workers." Incidentally, most of them have lots of documents, including in many cases a fake SSN card.

The Semler case is a scary commentary on the power of the ethnic hustlers. When a hate group like The Race is able -- ironically it seems to me -- to make a ludicrous claim of "racism" stick, we know we are in strange times. The self-righteousness of the black race hustlers is amazing to see, as well, though I doubt very much if a marginal bunch of whiners like the SCLC actually represents many African-Americans.

A recent NPR piece suggests that the pathetic SCLC is pretty much out of business:

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=18086909

So, now, let's get back to the real issues affecting Kansas City, like the illegal alien invasion.

k says:

all people deserve protection under (and over) the law from exploitation and abuse.

"who'll grow the food that you eat?
...don't look now, it ain't you or me."
Minutemen, "Don't Look Now"
from "Double Nickels on the Dime"

david says:

I saw that Tyson foods is laying off about 1500 workers in Emporia. I wonder if that has something to do with the effort to drive the immigrants out? Perhaps the minutemen sympathizers can explain how that helps the economy in Emporia?

Obviously capital, the folks that manufacture things can move to Mexico or elsewhere. That is precisely what they will do if they want and the minutemen as far as I can tell have never criticized the legal mobility of capital, only the illegal mobility of oppressed workers from abroad.

THINKING ABOUT FRANCES AND HER RESIGNATION STATEMENT

First I present the statement of Frances Semler in black and my comments about her comments in color:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ENOUGH, I am resigning. [You quit, without notice!]

>

Any individual or organization who speaks with concern of the impact of the well-organized invasion of illegals in this country is subjected to being called terms such as bigot or racist. Many citizens are reluctant to do so for fear of being subjected to the destruction of their character as I have been.

[Perhaps words like racism and bigotry are thrown around too casually. But what did you do this morning, January 22nd, 2008, on the Darla Jaye on KMBZ? A caller to you ranted about how, "We should run Rita Valenciano out of town." He said that twice to you and Darla and neither one of you called him on it. That was bigotry, that was racism, that was the public advocacy of kidnapping and violently running someone you were just criticizing out of town! Frances Semler was silent. Darla Jaye was silent. Instead, you got chummy with him. So let me get this straight, it's not racism, it's not bigotry and it's not hate radio! What do you call it, patriotism?]

>

As a United States citizen I have always felt able to express my views freely. Out of respect for the Mayor, I have allowed my voice to be stilled. No longer [And just in time to promote the MCDC Regional Workshop!]

>

Yes, as a member, I have associated with men and women members of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. I have found them to be dedicated to the belief that laws must be respected and enforced. Accusations against this organization have been unfounded and unjust. Members advocate for protection of all borders and enforcement of our laws. A report by the American Legion includes these same concerns.

[Almost everyone is concerned about these issues but it is largely a question of degree. MCDC tries to insert itself as some sort of paramilitary or armed patrol down on the Mexican border. I don't think that the American Legion endorses that do they? Trying to hide behind another more mainstream organization? Shame on you!]

>

The controversy regarding my membership in MCDC was fueled by Kansas City Star reporters and the President of the Coalition of Hispanic Organizations, Rita Valenciano [the woman you allowed to be targeted for some sort of lynching on radio this morning]. John Fierro, President of the Kansas City Park Board, has been connected with this same group. This Coalition is associated with La Raza, led by Janet Murguia, who was pictured on the front page of the Kansas City Star with fist raised. Are these paid positions and are our tax monies involved? Reverend Charles Steele Jr., President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, has threatened to “shut” the city down. It has been my experience that many of those supporting illegals are immigration lawyers, also paid with taxpayer funds.

[You have moved from being incomprehensible to being unintelligible. I think it is an improvement.]

>

Members of the City Council of Kansas City have made vicious, false, and irresponsible claims about me. One member has publicly, with arrogance, expressed her support for “open borders.” [One out of four Americans agree with her! Are all "traitors"?]

[About one fourth of the population thinks that there should be a severe crackdown on undocumented workers forcing them back to their homelands. About one fourth of the population is more-or-less for open borders and approving of the current immigration situation. About a fourth of the population doesn't think the issue is important. The last fourth thinks the issue is important but is willing to provide a way for many resident undocumented immigrants to gain citizenship.]

>

Have the 12 to 20 million illegals in this country made an impact on the economy of Kansas City? Estimates are as high as 40% unemployment in some areas of this city. The invasion of illegals willing to take low wages for long hours has resulted in the income of working men and women being depressed here and nationwide.

[These and all the labor related concerns are crucial to our future but seeing the immigration problem through the lenses of a minuteman group is not the way to go. If millions of undocumented immigrants have already left it could have already had a negative impact on the United States economy. Could the intimidation of immigrants have contributed to the economic decline on everyone's mind today?]

>

Yet, we have a police chief who has publicly boasted about the protection of illegals at the Westside Can Center, staffed by Linda Callon. Chief Corwin spoke to this at a forum held at Penn Valley Community College sponsored by Missouri State Legislators. He was challenged by State Representative Gary Dusenberg for not upholding the law as he had pledged to do. Dusenberg is a former Missouri State Highway Patrolman. Kansas City is not designated officially as a “sanctuary city,” but it is.

[What's next, Frances, a call for a "Krystal Nacht" against Hispanics and Hispanic lovers? Don't forget your gentle grandmotherly image!]

>

It was with great enthusiasm that I accepted the responsibilities of the Kansas City Missouri Parks and Recreation Board. I do believe I have been a positive asset. [Like a bullet in the head, Madaam.] There are many projects I eagerly wanted to pursue [Yeah, Frances, if it wasn't for all the traitors you had to work with you could have accomplished something!], but after reading the Mike Hendricks article in the January 17, 2008, issue o the Kansas City Star quoting the Mayor and the untrue statements made by Gloris[sic] Squitiro in a recent January publication of the Kansas City Hispanic News, I feel BETRAYED. [Traitors are everywhere, no?]

[You feel betrayed? You feel betrayed? I wonder how the Mayor feels? I wonder how your colleagues on the Parks and Recreation Board feel? Then compare that to how Ed Hayes feels, elated you can promote the MCDC jamboree!]

What a sad state of affairs for Kansas City, Missouri. Unfortunately, years of inept management of city affairs has created a situation whereby the city leaders bow to threats of race baiting and extortion and the silly commentary slobbered out by the racist editorial board of the Kansas City Star.

The school board can't keep a superintendant and can't get accredited. The city can't fix potholes, can't elect officials who can read legal documents before they sign them and can't steal a sports team from another city even with a free areana built already......maybe no one wants to play in a arena named after a prominent soon to be bankrupt telecom company.

Funny, I didn't see anyone protesting to stop donating money to the Boys and Girls Club of Kansas City when their local President was found GUILTY of racial discriminatory hiring practices - he only wanted to hire NON- Whites ...but of course Captain Racism Lewis Diguid had nothing to say on that matter.

It's no wonder the city is a laughing stock around the country for ineptness. When you bow to race pimps posing as "Christians" ..aka SCLC and bow to local ministers who live of the donations of welfare fruads it's hard for anyone to take you serious.

Happy to be on the Kansas side of the state line.
