The NBA confirmed Michael Beasley's character questions yesterday when the league fined the Miami Heat rookie $50,000 for his involvement in the weed-and-women bust at the rookie orientation, which warns players against off-court temptations. Questions about Beasley's character dogged him prior to the NBA's draft, possibly leading to him falling from the top spot.
Earlier this month, hotel security busted former Kansas Jayhawks Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur with the reefer and a couple of "fans." ESPN's Chris Broussard initially reported that Beasley was also in the room in which security smelled the chronic and heard a lot of flushing.
The story took an odd twist when ESPN scrubbed all references to the former Kansas State Wildcat from its account without explanation. An ESPN spokeswoman later explained to The Pitch that there wasn't any "concrete evidence that Beasley was in the room."
The Associated Press says the NBA fined Beasley for not cooperating with the investigation. Beasley later admitted he was in the room.
Now, this photo of Chalmers and Beasley is getting some play with people asking if Chalmers is holding a roach. It's not clear when the photo was taken.
The Kansas City Star surprised Beasley's mother with the news.
“I know nothing,” Fatima Smith told the Star. “Not a thing. I don’t know what’s going on.”
Beasley wasn't returning returning calls -- even from his mother.
Fortunately, Hardwood Paroxysm fills in the blanks, imagining a gentlemanly evening gone awry.

There was no "pot bust" moron. No pot was found in the hotel room, and nobody was busted.
