Stealing Time: I'll buy Chiefs tix, when Herm and King Carl get the ax

Herm Edwards 33.jpgThere's a long waiting list for tickets for the Kansas City Chiefs' 2009 season. Except, the line starts as soon as Herm Edwards and Carl Peterson get the boot from One Arrowhead Drive. Beavis, a poster on the Chiefs Planet message board, shared his e-mail exchange with a Chiefs season ticket salesman.

"I tell you what. Write my name down. As soon as Herm is fired and Carl resigns, I'll be the first in line to buy tickets," Beavis wrote.

You won't be the first, the Chiefs sales guy wrote.

"I will write your name down. I have to tell you though, I have a long list of people who will buy as soon as Herm and Carl are no longer here. If you get a deposit down today for only $100 per seat you are guaranteed great seat locations for 2009. Herm and Carl could be gone, they could not. Worst case scenario you have great seats, or you can simply apply that deposit to single game tickets next year. If you wait, you might not have a shot. Think it over and let me know. If not, I will hold your name and contact you at a later date."

Midtown Miscreant rips his hammer-happy upstairs neighbors. KC's grumpiest blogger isn't going to let a bunch of douche-y hipsters push him out of his midtown digs for JoCo. The money shot: "I'll leave here in a hearse drawn by city rats, stray cats and crack heads, when I spring from this mortal coil, but not a second sooner."

A few touchy people across Grand. State of the Line received a snippy e-mail from the designer behind the redesign of Kansas City Star's Web site after SOTL jokingly took credit for the upgrade. "Your silly blog most certainly did NOT push the Star to design a site in two days," the Web designer wrote. No shit.

Mike at Down the Byline contemplates trying out for the Kansas City Wizards. I'm not sure Mike is hot enough.

Dan from Gone Mild prematurely called the end of the Funkhouser-City Council "silly season" yesterday. This morning, Dan isn't happy with Ed Ford and the nine other council members for agreeing to settle the whole Mammygate fiasco on the condition that Funk drops his lawsuit challenging the Keep Gloria Squitiro Away Act of 2008. A deal the Funk refused to make. Gloria Squitiro is becoming the ice cream headache of mayors' wives.

Speaking of Gone Mild, he links to Jay Leno mocking JaCo Exec Mike Sanders' non-ethics ethics code on the Tonight Show. The one that doesn't cover the Jackson County Legislature. "The thing is, it's really not funny," Dan writes. "It's scandalous that our legislators are conspiring to exempt themselves from oversight."

McClatchy Watch notes the a regrettable error in the Star's political column The Buzz. How could someone read a parody about Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston joining Barack Obama's cabinet and think any part of it was real?

Well Hell Michelle pays tribute to the late Greg Beck on what would have been the 50th birthday of one of KC's finest bloggers. -- Justin Kendall
