Killa City: Olathe daycare operator Jeanette L. Lawrence charged in child's death

Johnson County prosecutors charged Jeanette L. Lawrence with involuntary manslaughter in the death April 2009 death of a child at the Olathe daycare she ran at 16012 W. 148th Terrace.

Lawrence was also charged with aggravated endangering a child and a violation of registered daycare regulations.

Good report from Fox 4 on the case in which a family friend of the victim says 18-month-old Ava Patrick pushed a chair to a fence separating toddlers and babies at the daycare, stood on the chair, fell and got her neck stuck between the fence's slates. Patrick was strangled to death. A complaint filed with the state accuses Lawrence of operating a daycare with more children than her daycare was allowed to care for. Fox 4 reports that Lawrence's daycare license was suspended but she ignored the suspension and kept running her daycare.
