KC Police Chief updates condition of officer injured in scuffle

"All of us here at KCPD also are praying for the recovery of this officer," Corwin wrote.
Court records say the officer was taken to a hospital where "medical personnel determined he had bleeding on the brain," and "neurosurgeons were unsure at the time if the victim would have any permanent damage as a result of his brain injury."
Jackson County prosecutors charged Scott Wyckoff with first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and Mark Wyckoff with felony interference.
Prosecutors allege that 21-year-old Scott Wyckoff tired to sneak past an ID checkpoint into the Power & Light District but a uniformed police officer tried to arrest Wyckoff, who allegedly struggled with the officer and fell on top of him. The officer hit his head and was knocked out, but that didn't stop Wyckoff from allegedly punching the unconscious officer in the noggin. Another officer tried to intervene. That's when dad, 46-year-old Mark Wyckoff, jumped in, allegedly trying to shove an officer off his son.
Scott Wyckoff later admitted shoving the officer to the ground and being "intoxicated" and "very aggressive" toward the officer, documents say.
