Monday Music Junkie: Little Brother, Kevin Drew, Spoon, Arcade Fire and more

The Big Payback

Little Brother returns next month with Getback, the outfit’s first LP without 9th Wonder behind the production. Click here to download the album sampler mixed by DJ Flash. I doubt Big Pooh and Phonte will be able to match their excellent Minstrel Show album, but at least they haven’t lost their sense of humor.

F-Bombs

Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew releases his solo album this week. The LP marks the first in a series of solo efforts from BSS members. The Glorious Hum has the first single “TBTF (Too Beautiful to Fuck),” as well as “Fucked Up Kid” from Spirit If.... I suspect there’s probably an “F” word somewhere after the ellipsis.

Rave On

Denmark’s the Raveonettes are getting ready to unleash Lust, Lust, Lust in the UK next month. According to Amazon, the album won’t get a stateside release until next March, but head over to the band’s MySpace page to stream demos now.

Spoon-fed

On the fence about going to the Spoon show at Liberty Hall next month? Head over to Hate Something Beautiful for live MP3s of “Stay, Don’t Go” and “Rhythm and Soul,” taken from the band’s performance in Los Angeles last week.

Hyperballad

Neon Bible is up for this year’s Polaris Music Prize, which is basically the Canadian version of the UK’s Mercury Music Award. If you aren’t heading to the Starlight Theater next week to see Arcade Fire, my consolation prize to you is the band covering the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' “Maps,” featuring Regine Chassagne doing her best Bjork.

Radio Friendly
