Minnesota resident Jammie Thomas has been ordered to fork over $220,000 to the RIAA for sharing songs 24 songs on Kazaa, marking the first copyright infringement case to ever go to trial. Here’ the mixtape that did her in:

Christmas in March
After six years in the making, it looks like the Flaming Lips’ full-length film, Christmas on Mars, is finally going to happen in March. Maybe. According to Billboard , Wayne Coyne is planning on turning the movie into a live experience with a possible premier at next spring’s SXSW. Watch the trailer.
Looks a bit like a low-budget version of Flash Gordon, if that’s possible. Let’s hope the Lips do a cover of that Queen song for the soundtrack.
Cat Nip
According to UK tabloids, indie-rock’s poster child for rehab, Pete Doherty, recently lost custody of his kitty after feeding it cocaine. At least now someone can empathize with Britney. His second Babyshambles LP hits the US in two weeks. Here’s an alternate take on the first single from Shotter’s Nation.

Dark Horse Prequel
