Q: Is chamber music the new punk rock?

A: Yes.

Q: Is the Chiara String Quartet the new Sex Pistols?

A: No, the Chiara String Quartet is the new Black Flag, which makes violinist Julie Yoon the new Henry Rollins.

Q: So who is the new Sex Pistols?

A: I dunno. What’s really, really overrated right now? How about Zach Braff? Zach Braff can be the new Sex Pistols.

Q: So, is 18th-century ballroom minuet dancing the new slamdancing?

A: Yes. I mean, no.

Q: What’s the new fatal heroin overdose?

A: Fatal laudanum overdose, duh.

Q: Who else is in the Chiara String Quartet?

A: Violinist Rebecca Fisher (the new Greg Ginn), viola-ist Jonah Sirota (the new Kira Roessler), cellist Gregory Beaver (the new Bill Stevenson). As it turns out, their latest album, Leyendas: An Andean Walkabout, is the new Fear of a Black Planet for some reason, but the judges are reviewing that call.

Q: Where can I see them perform?

A: At the Brick (1727 McGee Street, 816-421-1634) on Saturday, November 10th at 9:30 p.m.
