It's just a prop used in a 60's skit he does...The whole skit is actually pretty funny, this is obviously only a clip.

I am so sick of hearing this story and seeing the picture...I wish Barry would drop it out of his act...he doesn't need it at all...funny or not,he should not be condoning such actions....why he did it in the first place is questionable....he is supposed to be above all that sort of thing and a standard bearer in the industry as a
'clean' act....I have seen his act..show...whatever...several times and I just do not think this part of the act is funny nor necessary..i think Barry should STOP THIS FOOLISHNESS !!!! kt jonas

Oh get over it. Who doesn't smoke weed nowadays. I myself have seen this scene in the concert on 2 occasions and it is HILARIOUS!! Keep it in the act Barry...you can do no wrong!!

Except next tour, please play more album cuts..and lay off the "hits". Your fans have heard you sing these!

Lighten up Jonas!! It's a show.......an "act" portaying a prominent part of the 60's for Heaven's sake. Barry isn't REALLY smoking a joint. It's hysterical and does what it was meant to do. Don't forget this is a Vegas show and anything goes in Vegas. I've seen and heard a LOT worse than that while in Vegas. If you think THAT is bad, try looking at all the crap going on in the world today. NOW you have something lgitimate to "discuss".

I agree with Jenny and annonymous up to a point;not everybody smokes weed these days including Barry although in the book he wrote he admits to using it. It was the early 70's and it wasn't a big deal back then, but to Barry's credit he realized he couldn't really have the career he wanted and continue smoking what was and still is an illegal substance. I've seen that little skit several times myself, and it really is funny. Jonas, I suggest you remove the stick up your backside and stop putting Barry on a pedestal;they're for busts of Napoleon and plaster saints not human beings. Barry's never claimed to be a saint and I don't think he wants to be worshiped like one either.

Barry did this skit in Atlanta. It's Barry, it's a skit, it's funny ----just like it was/is meant to be...That's all.

It is a real cigarette, but just shaved off at the tip. I think it is funny no matter what the other people may think. If he wants to do it, let him. It is his show after all.

I was at the Barry Manilow concert in KC where this event did take place. Although, many thought it was funny and it got quite a few laughs, I was uncomfortable with it. I feel it was unnecessary and should have been left out. In Barry's credit, he did admit that he was "only joking" and that "the only drug I take is Lipitor".
