Not too long ago, in Warrensburg, Missouri, punk was kosher and Kosher was punk.
Starting in the dredges of the Warrensburgeois punk scene and rising all the way to a contract with L.A.'s BYO Records, Kosher was a pretty big deal. Its frontman, Remi Remlinger, is remembered as a patriarch of the scene, and the now-grown kids are going wild for the group's reunion this weekend.
If you youngins recognize the name Remlinger it may be because of Remi's little brothers, Sonny and Joe, who play together in KC power trio Super Black Market. But what you probably don't know is that all three Remlingers used to have a band called G.O.D. with Scott Burnett of Minnow Records. Burnett recently created a MySpace for the group. It's sick.

Sonny sometimes has nightmares and doesn't remember them. Joseph sometimes reads the Bible.
During your time in Kosher, what's one thing you wish you'd done
differently?
Not quit and not care as much. I feel as though I let myself down giving up, but we were a running punk band for 8 years.
Who is your all-time music hero, and if you were to ever meet him or her and could give them anything as a gift, what would it be?
James Williamsonof the Stooges. I'd give him an 8 ball.
Most overrated band of all time?
Tie between Fall Out Boy or the Rolling Stones
Most underrated band of all time?
Another TIE! Black Cat Music or the Damned
Favorite story from a Kosher show?
After a one-month tour we played at Gee Coffee in Olathe, and I was so drunk that I climbed a 30-foot speaker stack and hung in the rafters. I coulda died if I woulda fell but I wasn't THAT DRUNK!
