This Friday, Reach, Approach, and Deep Thinkers play the Brick, for five dollars. Cats in blue caps, show your love for the best local hip-hop.
The same night, Dark Ages, Imminent Death (formerly Serpentor), and Sucked Dry play an all-ages punk show at the Anchor. Don't let the smell of pet food and bones keep you away, because it's still better than the taste of Bud Light.
Friday night in Lawrence, the very hairy Mutators play with Modern Creatures at the Jackpot. Openers Witch & Hare play spidery, occult melodies while This Is My Condition pummels everything.
Bump into everyone you've ever met Saturday night, when the Replay and the Jackpot host a full day of music with local performers the Appleseed Cast, the Hearers, Approach, Drakkar Sauna, Fourth of July, the Danny Pound Band, Ebony & Ivory, Black Christmas, and Spirit of the Stairs.
That same night, Russell Robinson celebrates his graduation from KU at Liberty Hall, with Mac Lethal, Reach, Miles Bonny, Joc Max, DJ Hylanda, and MC Busy Bee of Wild Style, Zulu Nation, and the Fantastic 5 Emcees fame. Slam dunk!
Also this Saturday, PicturePlane, Dunk Jamsz, Weird Wounds, and Witch and Hare play a benefit for the 816 Bike Collective at the Pistol. The 816 Bike Collective is a local, d.i.y. nonprofit dedicated to the broke and beleaguered cyclists of Kansas City. Did you know bikes have the legal right to ride on the road? Neither did one million other assholes.
Sunday night, Sonic Spectrum presents a tribute to the Go-Betweens and their recently departed singer-songwriter Grant McLennan. Locals Ghosty, Eric Voeks, Jon Yeager, Sarah Anderson, Lori Wray and Hyperopia pay tribute to the tender and bitterwsweet pop music that inspired them.

Just FYI - at Russell Robinson's Graduation Party, Mr. Miles Bonny is unable to make the show, and I will be stepping into those large shoes in an attempt to match his rocking style.
